Add the EU AI icon to your image.

Drop in an image, pick the official icon, a corner and a size, and download a labelled PNG at the original resolution. Alt text and caption markup come with it.

PNG, JPEG or WebP

Your image never leaves your device. It is drawn on a canvas in your browser; nothing is uploaded or stored.

Icon

Fully created by AI, with no human elements beyond the prompt.

Tone

Pick the tone that stands out against the corner you choose. Added text uses the same tone.

Corner

The Code of Practice puts the image label top right. Choose another corner only when a logo or a player control already sits there.

10 %

Height of the icon as a share of the image's shorter side, from 8 %. It never drops below 48 px, so the small lettering inside the icon stays readable, unless the image itself is too small.

Say what the AI did, in the language of your audience, such as "AI-generated" or "KI-generiert". Keep it short: long text shrinks the whole label.

Same pixel dimensions as your original. Metadata from the original file, including C2PA content credentials, is not carried over, so keep the original if it has them.

Suggested alt text

Screen readers cannot see the icon in the pixels, so the alt text names the AI origin. Replace the part in square brackets.

HTML with an accessible caption

A visible caption repeats the disclosure in words, for everyone who cannot make out the icon.

What the icon does, and what it does not

A label for people, not a marking for machines

The EU icon is a visible label. It tells the people who see your image that AI generated or changed it, which is what deployers owe their audience for deep fakes under Article 50(4). Pair it with alt text and, where you can, a caption, so the disclosure also reaches people who cannot see the image.

Machine-readable marking under Article 50(2) is a separate duty for providers of generative AI systems: their output has to carry detectable marks such as metadata or watermarks. The icon does not replace that marking. The duty has applied since 2 August 2026; generative systems placed on the market before 2 August 2026 have until 2 December 2026.

This tool helps you apply a label. It is not legal advice.
